Sept. 20, 2013
6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
KenyaHELP, a local non-profit 501(c)(3) that provides scholarships for bright and needy high school and post secondary students in Meru, Kenya, is hosting a fundraiser on Friday September 20, 2013 at the Riverside Ballroom in Green Bay WI. The Kenyan government does not provide education past 8th grade; yet, a high school diploma is required for a living wage job. Working with Kenyan principals and headmasters, KenyaHELP provides funding to allow these students a chance to attend accredited high schools, colleges, and universities.
In the Kenyan tradition, we will be holding our Fourth Annual Harambee (Swahili for "all pulling together")
-Appetizer and Dessert Buffet
Tickets - $35 per person, $20 per student; call Jill at 920-436-0135 for more info.
Since its inception in 2004, KenyaHELP has enabled 97 students to graduate from their Kenyan high schools. Additionally, sixteen of the graduates are the equivalent of our National Merit Scholarship recipients and are now enrolled in Kenyan universities with full government scholarships. We are currently providing grants to 26 of our graduates to attend college and universities.
