What did Burns listen to?

Thursday, Dec, 28 2017

I'm not a big list guy. I like to choose the music I like based on my opinion, not what others tell me to listen to. Regardless, how is some of the stuff that I cranked this year. It's not ranked and I'm not getting too deep on what they meant to me. One list did that year and I don't think the list was finished before February! Here we go: Ded-Mis-an-Thrope Decapitated-Anticult Dead Cross-Dead Cross Iron Reagan-Crossover Ministry Electric Wizard- Wizard, Bloody Wizard Warbringer-Woe to the Vanquished The Obsessed-Sacred Terror-The Walls will Fall Iron Monkey-9-13 Powertrip-Nightmare Logic Code Orange-Forever Crackhouse-Live Powerflo-Powerflo Life of Agony-A Place Where There is no more Pain Metallica-Master of Puppets deluxe box set Wage War-Deadweight Wednesday 13-Condolences That's just part of the list. Keep it metal in 2018. ~burns~

The New Year is off to a Great Start!

Sunday, Jan, 29 2017

Some of you might be wondering if I finally lost it.  How can I say the New Year is so great?  I'm talking metal! There are some kick ass new albums already released this year.   If you need some new bangers to get through the frozen months, check out these:

Sepultura--Machine Messiah.  This might be the best release by Sepultura since Max Cavalera left the band.  I know Sepultura is a different beast these days, but this one gives justice to the name Sepultura!

Iron Reagan--Crossover Ministry.  If you like Municipal Waste or D.R.I., you are probably on top of this already.  The new album is sooo good!  A great mix of metal, thrash, and punk!

Kreator--Gods of Violence  This is their 14th studio album and these guys show no signs of slowing down.  They are the best thrash band to come out of Germany!  Mille still sounds as pissed off as ever!

John Garcia--The Coyote Who Spoke in Tongues.  John was/is the vocalist in Kyuss, Slo Burn, Unida, Kyuss Lives, Hermano, and Vista Chino.  If you are a fan of stoner rock, you know John's voice.  The new album is an acoustic album.  John reworks some of his solo songs and Kyuss classics into some killer acoustic versions.  It's nothing to bang your head too, but still heavy in it's own way!

Those are just some of the new metal albums I've been blasting so far this year.  Give them a listen!

My List 2016

Saturday, Dec, 31 2016

This is my list of albums that I lost hearing to in 2016.  I did not rate them numerically for a couple of reasons. First, who am I to think that my opinion of an album matters more than yours?.  Secondly, it's kind of like choosing which kid you like better.  It depends on mood.  It depends on the day.  I also didn't feel the need to give a break down of it album. My review of the compostion of the songs shouldn't sway anyone's opinion.  These are just some of the albums that I thought kicked ass.  If it's bands you've never heard of, go check them out.  You might get turned on to something new!

Scour--Scour E.P.
King 810--La Petite Mort or a Conversation with God
Metallica--Hardwired to Self Destruct
Testament--Brotherhood of the Snake
Wo fat--Midnight Cometh
Footage of a yeti--Purging the Human Condition
Surgical meth machine--Surgical Meth Machine
16-- Lifespan of a Moth
Lody Kong--Dreams and Visions
Asphyx--Incoming Death
Korn--The Serenity of Suffering
Rob zombie--The Electric Warklock....
Nails --You'll Never Be One of Us

You are only given so much time on this earth.  I try to listen to as much new music as possible. That is one of the benefits of my job.  Sometimes I have too much music to listen to, but that is a good problem to have!  I can't wait to listen to what 2017 delivers!

I am going to give a quick review of the latest from Beartooth. I'll start off by saying that I'm a fan of Beartooth. I thought their album Disgusting was a jolt of energy the rock world needed. I played Beaten In Lips on Over the Edge for at least six months before it gained regular AirPlay on the Razor. I had high hope for the new album. They weren't totally met though. With the album Aggressive, the spirit is there, but the production is slick, which takes away the raw nerve emotion of frontman Caleb Shomo. Disgusting took you on a ride through the depths he was going through. This album is good, but does not pack as much of a wallop as their debut. These songs will do great at radio though. Some angst with catchy, singable lyrics=radio success. I still like it, but I like Digusting more!
