In case you were unaware, about a month or so, we put Over the Edge on the shelf and replaced it with Midnight Mosh Pit. Midnight Mosh Pit (MMP) is every night at midnight. You get 30 minutes of hard rock and metal each and every day. That adds up to 3.5 hours of metal!! It's the best way to start your day: a high dose of adrenalized rock. You can always call, text, and email your requests in for the MMP. Mosh!!!!
I'm not sure how many people have seen this, but it was recently decided by the International Federation of Phonographic Industry (IFPI) to change the release date for new releases to Friday's instead of Tuesday. This will now be the global standard. Other countries have had their own release dates prior to the announcement. This is part of their plan to combat piracy. With everyone having the same release date, it should take away from illegal advance downloading. The IFPI also thinks albums will sell better starting on a Friday. This change will happen sometime this summer. I wonder if we will continue with New Music Monday or will it get changed to New Music Thursday?
Since I wasn't on the air until late last night, I wanted to take this time to wish my mom a belated happy Mother's Day. I did get to see her yesterday, but just wanted to make sure that she knew how important she is to me. My dad worked a lot, so my mom did most of the raising of me and my siblings. She could be both the good cop and the bad cop when needed. There were numerous times she threatened to get out the paddle to use on my brothers and me when we were roughhousing a little too much (I don't recall her ever using it. It was the threat that made us quit!). My mom kept trying to connect with me in my teenage years. I remember sitting in the basement, shooting pool and listening to Danzig. My mom came downstairs, heard it, and trying to be cool, asked if it was Billy Idol. I didn't have the heart to tell her it wasn't. I just went with it. All these years later, I can tell her it was Danzig. I would never sit around listening to Billy Idol! My mom has always been there in any hard times and I am grateful for that. Thank you Mom for all that you do and I hope you had a great Mother's Day!
I'm getting this in just under the wire, but here are some of my favorite albums of this year! ~no particular order~
2. Madball--Hardcore Lives
3. Sick of it All-- Last Act of Defiance
4. The Hell--Groovehammer
5. Obituary--Inked in Blood
7. Decapitated--Blood Mantra
8. Nonpoint--The Return
9. Vista Chino--Peace
10. Bat--Primitive Age (demo)
Remember, there is no accounting for taste. These are albums that grabbed me and stuck with me throughout the year.
Happy New Year!
