Rox Blog: Another Faceless Rock Band Chooses a Mascot

Thursday, Jan, 29 2015

Maybe this is a generational thing, but it seems more rock bands are choosing to create mascots to represent them. I used to read the liner notes in cds and knew the names of the musicians in my favorite bands, but with downloads, you just don't get that anymore. So many rock bands are faceless, and they're lucky if you even know the lead singer's name. So what do you do...create a mascot.. Eddie, Knucklehead, Fiend Skull, Deathbat and now meet Theory of a Deadman's new mascot...Fallout Phil.

Read the complete article on how TOADM chose the name.

Papa Roach "Between Angels & Insects" Old School Lunch Video of the Day

Friday, Jan, 16 2015

Perhaps inspired by the book and film adaption of Fight Club?

Papa Roach Between Angels & Insects: "Between Angels And Insects"

There's no money, there's no possessions
Only obsession, I don't need that shit
Take my money, take my obsession

I just want to be heard, loud and clear are my words
Comin' from within, man, tell 'em what you heard
It's about a revolution in your heart and in your mind
You can't find the conclusion,
Life-style and obsession
Diamond rings get you nothing but a life long lesson
And your pocket-book stressin'
You're a slave to the system, working jobs that you hate
For that shit you don't need

It's too bad the world is based on greed
Step back and see, stop thinking about yourself
Start thinking about

Tyler Durden in Fight Club: Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off.

Rammstein "Du Hast" - Old School Lunch Video of the Day

Tuesday, Jan, 13 2015

"Du hast" (German: You have) is a song by German industrial metal band Rammstein. It was released as the second single from their second album Sehnsucht (1997). The song's title is a play on du hasst ("you hate") and du hast ("you have"). "Du hast" peaked at number twenty on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart in the United States. It is the most successful German language song in the history of that chart. (Wikipedia)
