HELL IN A CELL: What Should Happen vs. What Will Happen
Cedric Alexander, Lince Dorado and Sin Cara vs. Tony Nese, Drew Gulak and Ariya Daivari
What I Want to Happen: This is a hard match to, well, care about. Its a 6-man tag team match with no storyline. Sure there are commonalities amongst some teammates, but why are you fighting to begin with?! If forced to prefer an outcome, I’ve never been much of a Luche Libre fan so Nese, Gulak and Daivari for the pointless win.
What I Think Will Happen: We know the cruiserweights are great at delivering action-packed, fast-paced matches, but I really don’t think the outcome of this match matters, at all.
Bayley vs. Dana Brooke
What I Want to Happen: Bayley is brimming with positivity and much like the New Day, its just not my speed. I’d love to give Bayley a big hug…a tight one…right around the neck! Dana should have no problem power-bombing Bayley into oblivion. Now that Dana is developing her character too, this win could help give her a real push.
What I Think Will Happen: Much like her wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube men, Bayley never seems to stay down. Much to my dismay, it seems the WWE’s little ray of sunshine will pull off another victory over Dana.
TAG TEAM MATCH
Enzo & Big Cass vs Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson
What I Want to Happen: Enzo and Big Cass are easily my favorite tag-team in the WWE right now and clearly it’s not just me. The ENTIRE crowd shouted their intro (myself included, albeit at hmoe to the tv) when Gallows and Anderson cut their mic. Now that is saying something! Listen to the universe and give them the win.
What I Think Will Happen: Both teams are talented, but have been left just outside of the title’s reach. A win here would be huge momentum for either tag-team, but I think Gallows and Anderson will take this match. They might fade with another loss, whereas Enzo and Big Cass will still have a huge following behind them ‘and you can’t teach that!’
CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
T.J. Perkins (C) vs. Brian Kendrick
What I Want to Happen: I finally caught up on the cruiserweight action, aren’t you proud of me?! I can’t get enough of the Wizard of Odd. There is some great talent in this division, but character and storyline are just as important for me and I love Brian Kendrick. I’d love to see the title over his shoulder.
What I Think Will Happen: Maybe it’s just me being upset that my favorites aren’t on top, but it seems like when a new(er) wrestler has a strong following the WWE lets them ride that popularity and uses the title to boost another superstar. Not to say that T.J. doesn’t have a fan base, but the title serves more of a purpose for him, while Kendrick can just stay weird and thrive. Not to mention, moving the title this soon seems lateral. T.J. will retain his championship.
TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
The New Day (C) vs Cesaro & Sheamus
What I Want to Happen: We all know how I feel about The New Day (boooo!), but outside of that even, can we just acknowledge the genius that is Mick Foley?! The pairing of Cesaro and Sheamus has been fantastic! I’ve been in the Cesaro Section since day one, but the fact that I’m rooting for Sheamus, is unheard of. It’s time to put some fresh faces behind those titles. Besides, the dynamic between Cesaro and Sheamus while reigning as champions would make for great tv!
What I Think Will Happen: Considering The New Day is on their way to beating every tag-team record ever, it’s an easy match to predict. The New Day wins. *insert eye-roll here*
HELL IN A CELL: UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Roman Reigns (C) vs Rusev
What I Want to Happen: Not since the days of The Shield have I been a Roman Reigns fan. He is making it harder and harder to think I ever will be again either. I don’t know if a steel cage is going to help distract from his mediocre moves or make his shortcomings more apparent. I do, however, look forward to seeing what destruction Rusev has in store for Reigns. I know he won’t, but what a place for Rusev to reclaim his championship?!
What I Think Will Happen: I feel like this match is just going to dilute some of the suspense and excitment of the two headlining matches still to follow. That being said, I’m sure the WWE will hold the title with Reigns now that they’ve found a tolerable spot for him on the roster.
HELL IN A CELL: UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Kevin Owens (C) vs Seth Rollins
What I Want to Happen: This match should be nothing short of incredible and I’m genuinely torn. There is nothing I love more than a good ol’ fashion heel and with Jericho by his side Kevin Owens is serving the Universal Title proud. On the other hand, Seth has managed to keep a sharp, witty heel-like vibe while carrying a face role. While they both stack up in the talent department, I may have to side wit Seth Rollins on this one. The Shield may be gone, but I can relive their glory through Seth FREAKING Rollins.
What I Think Will Happen: Quite simply, Seth deserves the title, but I still think with such a quick move the day after its inaugural match, its probably best to let the title resinate with one wrestler for awhile. Kevin Owens will come out on top and with Jericho proudly by his side!
HELL IN A CELL: WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Sasha Banks (C) vs. Charlotte
What I Want to Happen: The fact that this match is the main event of the night is a testament in itself. This will be the final nail in the coffin of the lingerie, pillow-fight ‘diva’ days. The women are finally being taken seriously and I couldn’t be happier! There are no two better women to mark this moment in history either. It doesn’t matter who wins, the match itself is the biggest win of the night (if not the entire year)!
What I Think Will Happen: The belt has been doing a lot of back and forth and if the WWE wants us to take the Women’s Division as seriously as they have introduced it, they need to let everyone see that the belt is worth something. Sasha needs to continue her reign and show that the title is a hard fought award, not just a community prize won at the drop of hat. A long reign will help solidify the Women’s Division.
