Coldplay, Twenty One Pilots Vying for "Billboard" Touring Awards This Year
Coldplay and Twenty One Pilots have been named finalists for the 2016 Billboard Touring Awards, scheduled for November 9 at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
Coldplay is up for three categories: Top Draw, Top Tour and Top Boxscore. Chris Martin and company will be up against Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band and pop and R&B powerhouse Beyonce for the Top Draw and the Top Tour prizes, which honor the best-attended and highest-grossing treks, respectively.
As for the Top Boxscore prize, which honors the highest-grossing single engagement by an artist, Coldplay is up for their June 15-19 run at London's Wembley Stadium. Springsteen is also a finalist in this category, as are The Stone Roses, for their five-night engagement in Manchester, England.
Meanwhile, Twenty One Pilots is up for the Breakthrough Award, while Guns N' Roses' Not in This Lifetime Tour reunion trek is one of six finalists for the Concert Marketing & Promotion Award.
The 2016 Billboard Touring Awards ceremony is part of 13th annual Billboard Touring Conference, which will be held November 9 and 10.
