Dan Auerbach's record label releasing unheard track from Rock Hall nominee Link Wray
Dan Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound record label is releasing a never-before-heard song from the late influential guitarist Link Wray, who's nominated for induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's 2018 class. The track is called "Son of Rumble," and is a sequel to Wray's best-known song, "Rumble."
"I saw [Wray] play in Cleveland at the Grog Shop and he blew my mind," the Black Keys frontman says. "To get the chance to put out unreleased songs on Easy Eye is amazing and a dream I never thought was possible."
"Son of Rumble" is accompanied by a black-and-white video, streaming now on YouTube. The song will also be released as a seven-inch vinyl single alongside another unreleased Link Wray track, "Whole Lotta Talking," on April 13.
Link Ray's original hit "Rumble" can be heard in such hit films as Pulp Fiction and Independence Day, as well as in the first episode of The Sopranos.
Along with Wray, the 2018 Rock Hall nominees include Rage Against the Machine, Radiohead, Judas Priest, Nina Simone and LL Cool J, among others.
