The Background: Shinedown singer Brent Smith tells us "Second Chance" is one of the most personal songs he's ever written. The lyrics are about the day he left home after signing his record deal. Smith says his mom told him the day before he left, "I want you to go after every single dream that you ever wanted that I might have told you that I thought was unrealistic. Because I know now that you know exactly what you want to do." Smith adds that leaving home is what gave him that second chance. |
