Music » Music News » Korn reunion...kinda

Feb. 11, 2013

This summer, Korn will be performing European festivals and Rock On The Range with original guitarist Brian “Head” Welch. Many (including members of the band) are hopeful that these shows will lead to a permanent reunion. However, as Welch proclaims, it’s extremely unlikely that former drummer David Silveria will be rejoining the nu metal group onstage anytime soon.

During an interview with Media Mikes, Welch was asked whether there was any chance of Silveria (who left Korn in 2006) would be back for the performances as well. Welch had the following to say in response:
“No. David has really said some crazy things online about personal things and he’s not in a place where people would really want him around. That happened before I talked with them but I guess the things he said were really crazy. Those guys were in a band together for so long so I don’t know, but for now it’s just not going to happen.”
Coincidentally, Korn’s reunion with Welch also comes around the same time as Silveria’ legal troubles once again become public. According to TMZ, the drummer pleaded guilty this past week to DUI. As you may recall, Silveria was arrested last March in Huntington Beach, CA for driving under the influence of sleeping pills. Despite originally pleading not guilty back in August, Silveria reportedly struck a deal with a deal with prosecutors that includes dropping the hit and run charge in exchange for pleading guilty. Silveria’s punishment includes 3 years of informal probation, a 3-month first offender program, and required attendance at a M.A.D.D. victim impact panel. So while it may not be the reason for his non-involvement in Korn at the moment, it’s still safe to say that Silveria will be kept preoccupied this year anyway.
