Music » Music News » Red Hot Chili Peppers To Drop New CD August 30

June 7, 2011
The Red Hot Chili Peppers have posted a message on their website saying that their tenth studio album will hit stores on August 30. The new effort is produced by Rick Rubin and will be titled I'm With You. It's the band's first new work since 2006's double-album Stadium Arcadium. It also will be the first album to feature new guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, following the amicable split with John Frusciante in 2008. The first single is reportedly called "The Adventures of Raindance Maggie" and will be released on July 18, according to an MTV report.

Back in February, frontman Anthony Kiedis said that Flea's recent study of musical theory at USC, coupled with Frusciante's exit, has definitely changed the dynamic of the band's songwriting.

"It is always going to change the chemistry and feeling of the music when such a creative force as John Frusciante leaves," Kiedis told Spin magazine. "He was something unique that shaped our sound then, but now I think it's also something fresh and exciting to have a new, incredible musical mind working with us now. We are still the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but we also have to adapt and welcome new opportunities. After all, that is how we've survived all these years."

Kiedis added that, "This album has been one of evolution. Before, some of our jams were a bit hit-and-miss. On this record, a decent number of songs were actually thought out and planned in a way we had never done before. That is, with Flea's new knowledge of music theory, we explored the writing process with a bit more precision."

The band also announced that they will play their first ever show in Hong Kong on August 9 at the AsiaWorld Arena. The Chili Peppers also will headline at Japan's Summer Sonic Festival in Osaka on August 13 and in Tokyo on August 14. Then they will head to the annual Rock in Rio festival in Brazil on September 24.
