According to The Pulse Of Radio, BLACK STONE CHERRY drummer John Fred Young told RockAAA.com that the band nearly left its current hit single, "White Trash Millionaire", off the band's latest album, "Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea". Young explained, "We didn't want to record that song as we had it too fast. It sounded almost corny but we couldn't figure out why as we knew it had a hook and a good melody but Howard [Benson, producer] just told us to slow it down. It worked really well and he spotted something really simple that us as musicians had overlooked."
Young also admitted that the group worked with outside songwriters for the first time on this disc, saying, "We didn't want to do that at all as we didn't want the sound of the band to change. A lot of bands are scared to do that . . . We were scared to death the first time and had concerns they would jack our sound up but we took a chance and it was cool and we met a lot of good dudes."
"Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea", BLACK STONE CHERRY's third album, came out on May 31 and follows up 2008's "Folklore And Superstition".
