Music » Music News » Adelitas Way Singer Says Band is 'Not F---ing Around' on New Album

June 3, 2011
Adelitas Way are in store for one hell of a summer. The Las Vegas melodic rockers will be joining Theory of a Deadman, Alter Bridge, Black Stone Cherry, and Emphatic on this year's installment of the Carnival of Madness Tour.

"I can't tell you how excited the band is to be part of this tour! We're actually good friends with Theory of a Deadman and they are some of the coolest guys in the game," said Adelitas Way vocalist Rick DeJesus during an interview with Noisecreep. "We've toured with them before and had a great time. Whenever you get to tour with your friends, time flies by so fast."

Sponsored by Monster Energy Drink, the Carnival of Madness Tour will tear through North America for over 25 dates starting on August 13 in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin. DeJesus said after Adelitas Way finish their set, he'll be on the side of the stage taking in the headline performers. "Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge is one of my favorite vocalists out there right now," he said. "It's going to be an honor to share the stage with him. I can't wait to see him sing live again."

DeJesus thinks that despite its heavyweight lineup, the Carnival of Madness Tour will leave many people surprised.

"I don't think people are prepared for the type of show we're all going to bring. Alter Bridge has had a lot of popularity already, but right now I feel like they're really making their mark on the rock world. It's their moment to take things to that next level. For Adelitas Way, we plan on going out every show and killing it. I think when people come out the show, it will be bigger than they expected."

The conversation then shifted to 'Home School Valedictorian,' Adelitas Way's upcoming album. For their sophomore record, the band hired producers Dave Bassett (Shinedown) and Tadpole (Disturbed) and recorded at a studio in idyllic Malibu, Calif.

"Dave's studio is literally on a hill next to the beach," DeJesus said. "So we got to hang out by the pool and relax in beautiful weather. There was zero stress. The whole environment was like something out of a dream. When you're a kid and you're dreaming about getting signed and making an album, you picture something like the situation we were in. We had an amazing time."

With record sales being so low these days, Noisecreep asked DeJesus if he felt any pressure to deliver the kind of album that can succeed against the odds. His reply was confident and refreshing.

"We're giving people more than what they want and raised the bar for what we do in Adelitas Way," he said. "We wanted people to put the new album on and say, "Holy s---!" I think we achieved that. Our first album was a great starting point and beginning for us. But I'll say it right now -- I think 'Home School Valedictorian' blows our previous album away. The record will establish us as a big player in rock music. I am confident that once people hear this album, they'll know we're not f---ing around."
